Education Software Solutions partners with MyConcern to offer safeguarding solutions for colleges

Education Software Solutions (ESS) has extended its partnership with MyConcern, awarding-winning safeguarding software, to offer solutions for managing wellbeing and pastoral concerns in colleges.

ESS and One Team Logic, the company behind MyConcern, have agreed to extend their partnership beyond the school sector and into further education.

ESS will offer the MyConcern solution alongside UNIT-e, its leading management information system (MIS) for sixth form and further education colleges. This will enable FE institutions to offer a safe and effective way for recording and managing safeguarding, pastoral and wellbeing concerns about young people and adults at risk. It is expected to be particularly useful as colleges manage the emotional impact of the pandemic on students with the full return to education this month.

Staff will be able to record and manage their safeguarding concerns on any web-enabled device and can easily access up-to-date guidance to make safeguarding policies more robust. Senior leaders can obtain an instant overview of all safeguarding concerns at the click of a button, clearly identify trends and be able to assess the impact of their safeguarding interventions.

ESS has over 30 years’ experience in the further education sector and supports 1 in 3 colleges in the UK. Its digital expertise combined with MyConcern safeguarding solutions will help colleges to develop a much more comprehensive understanding of the concerns affecting young people and vulnerable adults in their care.

Andy Bennett, ESS Chief Executive Officer, said: “Student wellbeing is now more important than ever. Colleges need to be able to respond to the additional pressures some young people may feel due to the pandemic and lockdown home learning. MyConcern offers a timely solution to a very real issue.”

Mike Glanville, Chief Safeguarding Officer at One Team Logic, explained: “The impact of the pandemic on young people is likely to be significant and it is only the tip of the iceberg. The safeguarding responsibilities on colleges in the wake of this is huge and they have a major part to play in supporting their students in being able to tackle these issues. We know that many young people are experiencing mental health issues, have been exposed to online abuse and may even be in poverty and feeling very isolated due to recent events. We’re delighted to be able to offer UNIT-e customers access to MyConcern, and to be supporting them in their commitment to the safeguarding and wellbeing of students."
